What is The Citadel Foundation

Cadet Toastmaster Becomes State Finalist
(View Article) Cadet Shaun Hornilla advanced through three rounds of the Toastmasters International Speaking Contest this semester, proudly reprsenting El Cid Toastdawgs, The Citadel's campus chapter of the global public speaking organization. Cadet memberships in Toastmasters are generously funded by Henry Dale Smith, Citadel Class of 1947. Under the guidance of the Oral Communications Lab, the club meets weekly during the academic year. Cadet participants give both prepared and impromptu speeches, then critique one another's performance to hone their public speaking, communication, and leadership skills.

Thanks from the Front Lines
(View Article) The Citadel Family Association has partnered with cadets on campus to create the ongoing "Citadel Heroes Project," which sends letters and care packages to Citadel cadets whose academic plans were interrupted when they were called to serve their country in Iraq and Afghanistan. Specialist James D. Purgason, '07 of the S.C. Army National Guard shares how meaningful he and his unit found this support from The Citadel family on Christmas Day, 2007, while deployed in Afghanistan.
