Resources for Faculty - Plagiarism Issues

The Citadel has renewed its subscription to Turnitin.com for 2008-2009.  Jim Leonard of the English Department will continue to serve as program administrator.  Turnitin.com is an online anti-plagiarism program that works by searching in Internet sources and in its own archives for matches to submitted electronic text.  It works quickly, is not difficult to use, and is effective for finding and clearly documenting plagiarized material.  You can check the papers for a whole class in about 10-15 minutes if you’ve received the text electronically, or you can check only a single suspicious passage.  If you would like to use Turnitin.com to check student papers, contact Jim Leonard and he’ll set you up to do so.  Also contact him if you have trouble using the program, and he’ll try to help.
