COMPREHENSIVE STANDARD M8:
The institution has a clearly defined and published organizational structure that delineates responsibility for the administration of policies.

STATEMENT OF COMPLIANCE: The Citadel is in compliance with Comprehensive Standard M8.

RATIONALE FOR JUDGMENT OF COMPLIANCE:

The Citadel provides a clearly defined and published organizational structure that delineates administrative responsibilities. As authorized in the Code of Laws of South Carolina, the Board of Visitors (Reference 1) is the governing body of the college and, as such, has the responsibility for approving The Citadel's Organization and Function Chart (Reference 2). This chart depicts the structure in which all college policies and procedures are administered and delineated. The Citadel's President, appointed by the Board of Visitors, has the governing authority and responsibility for the administration of the college and all its activities, including recommending vice presidential appointments (References 3 and 4). The President, in turn, delegates the development and implementation of departmental-level policies and the duties for functional areas of the college to the following vice-presidential level administrators; whose responsibilities for policy administration are specified in their position descriptions.
