15 cadets receive Citadel Women's Club scholarships

Fifteen Citadel cadets are getting a little help with their education thanks to The Citadel Women’s Club and its annual yard sale.

Held each May, the yard sale is one of the biggest in the Charleston area. Proceeds go to cadet scholarships in the name of John S. Carter, head of the Department of Health, Exercise and Sport Science and long-time yard sale volunteer and coordinator.

Proceeds from the 2010 event helped fund spring semester scholarships for 15 cadets. Scholarship awards ranged from $500 to $3,000 each.

Here are 2010 scholarship recipients announced by The Citadel Women’s Club Scholarship Committee:

  • Michael J. Fox, Rochester, N.Y.
  • Christopher Evans, Moncks Corner, S.C.
  • Samuel Oliver, Alloway, N.J.
  • Daniel Biegger,Summerville, S.C.
  • Aaron Anderson, Houston, Texas
  • Julia McCulloh, Peyton, Colo.
  • Josiah Neal, Jacksonville, N.C.
  • Andrew Duggan, Charleston, S.C.

The 2011 yard sale will be Saturday, May 28, 2011, in Deas Hall on The Citadel campus.
