Clarissa Lugo, a native of Eagle Pass, Texas, graduated from The Citadel in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Following graduation, she taught sixth grade social studies at Alice Birney Middle School in Charleston before joining The Citadel admissions department as an admissions counselor in 2004.
In 2005 Ms. Lugo was promoted to Assistant Director of Admissions. As the first female cadet graduate to serve in the admissions office, she brings a unique perspective to her responsibilities. She works primarily with prospective women and Hispanic students.
Ms. Lugo gives back to her alma mater through her involvement in many campus activities. She was honored in 2009 as The Citadel’s Employee of the Year. This award recognized her leadership activities around campus, most specifically her success in recruiting women and Hispanic students along with her service as The Citadel’s Cheerleading coach from 2007 – 2009.
A life-long learner, Ms. Lugo earned her Masters in Business Administration from The Citadel Graduate School in 2012. She was promoted to Associate Director of Admissions in August of that same year.
Ms. Lugo has two vivacious daughters who mean absolutely everything to her and can always make her laugh with their witty humor and sardonic attitude.
