The Citadel names finalists for vice president position
Four finalists have been named for the position of vice president for finance and business affairs at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina.
The finalists selected by a search committee from among 74 applications are:
- Retired Navy Cmdr. Stephen A. Bedard, chief financial officer for the city of Charleston
- Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Randall B. Howard, associate vice president of finance and assistant treasurer at Ball State University
- Retired Army Lt. Col. Michael D. McClatchy, Citadel Class of 1967, assistant superintendent for business services at the Lancaster, Calif., School District
- Sue E. Mitchell, vice president for business affairs at Charleston Southern University
The vice president for finance and business affairs is one of six senior-level administrators reporting directly to the president. This VP is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of an annual budget of approximately $88 million and serves as the liaison to The Citadel Trust, which manages scholarship money. He or she also will be responsible for overseeing the offices of financial and accounting services, procurement, treasurer, budget, human resources and auxlliary services.
The finalists will visit campus this month for interviews with senior administrators and President Lt. Gen. John W. Rosa. The selected candidate will replace Curt Holland, who left the college in August to work in the private sector.
