VET CENTER HOURS

There is a doorbell, if the door is locked during those times, please ring the bell. If the door is locked but it is supposed to be open and no one is answering the bell, call Robin at 901-219-8653.

The Citadel operates under a summer schedule where most offices are closed on Fridays. The Vet Center will be open the following hours:

From 7 May to 10 August

Monday – Wednesday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Thursday – 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Friday – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (except 25 May and 6 July)

BOWLING AT ASHLEY LANES

We will bowl once a month on the above Fridays from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Ashley Lanes on Sam Rittenberg in West Ashley.

PICCOLO SPOLETO SAND SCULPTING CONTEST ON IOP

Saturday, 9 June

Join Robin on Saturday, 9 June from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Citadel Beach Club on the beach at 8:30 a.m. and we will stroll over to front beach to check out the sand sculptures – Robin will have a cooler with some waters at The Citadel Beach Club but be certain to bring your own as well and some cash if we decide to stop in at The Windjammer before heading back to The Citadel Beach Club. It’s a good 30-40 minute walk, be ready! Bring a bag lunch! Rain cancels event.

PICCOLO SPOLETO FINALE CONCERT AT HAMPTON PARK

Saturday, 9 June

Enjoy some fine tunes from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. – Piccolo Spoleto Finale at Hampton Park. Meet Robin at the Vet Center at 4:30 p.m. and we’ll walk over!  It’s FREE and features hip-hop, bluegrass and more! Rain cancels our going to this event.

Military Appreciation Night Game. Seniors eat free before 7 p.m. and general admission is $4. Meet at the Vet Center at 6 p.m. and we’ll walk over, or look for us there.

BEACH DAYS AT THE CITADEL BEACH CLUB

15 June • 22 June • 29 June • 20 July • 27 July

Meet at The Citadel Beach Club on the beach (between the two paths, almost in front of the flag pole). Robin will be there with a cooler of waters. Bring sunscreen, a towel, a chair, and your lunch! Robin will be on the beach, weather permitting, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. unless noted otherwise on Facebook or our webpage. Parking at The Beach Club is free with your Citadel parking permit or you can lay your Citadel ID on your dashboard.

PALMETTO TRAIL EXPLORATION AWENDAW PASSAGE

8 June and 13 July

DAY ONE EASTERN PORTION / Friday, 8 June / start your summer off with a hike on the Awendaw Passage. Park at Buck Hall Recreation Area ($5 parking) and meet Robin at the trailhead at 10 a.m. to hike. We’ll walk three to four miles and then turn around to head back to Buck Hall. There are restrooms at Buck Hall. Bring a water and your bag lunch. We’ll picnic along the trail. Meet Robin at the Vet Center NLT 9 a.m. if you’d like to ride out to the trail together.

DAY TWO WESTERN PORTION / Friday, 13 July / mid-summer calls for bug spray, Robin will have some handy for this hike. Find a restroom before you meet up with her at the Steed Creek trailhead. We’ll do a similar length of walk as before and we’ll picnic along the trail. Bring your water and bag lunch! Meet Robin at the Vet Center NLT 9 a.m. if you’d like to ride out to the trail together.

YOGA AT RIVERFRONT PARK ON TUESDAYS

Tuesdays in April, May, June, July and August from 6:30 – 7:15 pm at Riverfront Park in North Charleston / Charleston Naval Complex Redevelopment Authority, 1001 Everglades Ave, North Charleston, SC 29405 It’s that time again for FREE YOGA sponsored by King of Pops - Meet Robin at the park, she’ll have a few extra yoga mats, a cooler of waters, and bug spray. She’ll be located at the far left of the stage, near Noisette Creek. She will be there no later than 6 pm. Bring some $ as this is sponsored by King of Pops and you might want to purchase a flavorful Popsicle when we are finished!

She will be there on the above dates – if you want to attend other dates, let her know and she’ll meet you there. Rain cancels the event. Be sure to follow us on FB to know if it is a go or not!

ELECTRONICS

We have five laptops in the Vet Center for your usage. The laptops have to be signed out by either a staff member or a Federal Work Study student. Laptops can be checked out up to 72 hours if there is no waiting list for them. I hope they help you in your college experience!
