Call for Papers
The Department of Political Science is pleased to announce that the nineteenth Citadel Symposium on Southern Politics will be held on Thursday-Friday, 6-7 March 2014, at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. The Symposium will feature approximately 15 panels where visiting scholars will present and comment on papers reflecting research and writing on the recent politics of the South.
An Invitation to Present Research
Anyone interested in participating in the Symposium is invited to submit a title and an abstract (hypotheses or explanation of research, methodology, and significance) of a paper he or she proposes to present at one of the Symposium panels. There is no restriction on topic or hypothesis investigated other than that it relate to the study of the politics of the American South and that it be of interest and significance.
Anyone interested in developing a special panel is invited to make a proposal or otherwise consult with the Director. Proposals for papers and panels will be accepted until Friday. 15 November 2013. After that date, proposals will be considered on a space-available basis. Notification of inclusion on the program will be made as the program is developed, but no later than the middle of December 2013.
An Invitation to Serve as a Discussant
Anyone interested in participating in the Symposium as panel discussant is invited to submit his or her name and areas of interest. Please reply by Friday, 15 November 2013.
Registration for faculty members is $100 and $50 for graduate or undergraduate students. Two lunches as well as coffee breaks are included in the registration fee.
