The mission of the Staff Council is to provide a forum for Citadel employees to present issues and discuss concerns that impact the quality of our work environment.
Members of Staff Council are elected from all campus departments. Representation is based on a 1:15 ratio of eligible permanent employee positions within each of the following constituent areas: Academic Support, Auxiliary Enterprises, Institutional Support, Operations & Maintenance, and Student Services.
Meetings are held the third Thursday of every month, and all employees are welcome to attend. Staff Council is also involved in various community service projects including Adopt-A-Highway and the Angel Tree project which helps children in the community at Christmas.
All employees are encouraged to join the Staff Council Group Studio on Lesesne Gateway, where you can see the latest announcements, meeting minutes, and a listing of elected Staff Council members.
2014 Trident United Way Campaign
This year our United Way campaign runs from October 16, 2014 to October 31, 2014. The United Way campaign is our opportunity to extend a hand and help our neighbors in need. I am excited about our shared effort in the coming weeks and encourage your involvement and support.
We believe in a “hand up” instead of a “hand out,” and making an investment in our community to achieve measureable results.
By bringing together the many helping agencies to connect and collaborate better and make the system of service delivery more efficient and effective. For example…
When Janiah was in fourth grade at Harleyville-Ridgeville Elementary School, she was having behavioral problems and reading at the second grade level. We’ve seen children like Janiah before: they’re primed to slide further behind, drop out by ninth grade without any workplace skills, and end up in poverty, to begin the cycle all over again.
But because we intervened, all of us working together, Janiah has a real future. Trident United Way’s Links to Success initiative provided academic and non-academic services to Janiah. Now in sixth grade, she’s reading at a seventh grade level and no longer has behavioral issues.
That formula is being repeated thousands of times in all three school districts to get kids on track and to reach the Lowcountry’s Bold Community Goal of an 88% graduation rate by 2020.
Our graduation rate has gone from 64% to 78%. We are on our way.
Please see your administrative assistant, staff council rep, or call the Help Desk for the hard copy of the forms; now you can invest in our work on-line. Please do so today!
