Scholarship donors recognized for contributions
The Citadel celebrated Scholarship Donor Day on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 6 and 7.
Donors were recognized during a banquet Nov. 6 at the Holliday Alumni Center and during the Nov. 7 military dress parade. This year marks The Citadel’s 21st Scholarship Donor Day, an annual celebration of donors who have permanently endowed scholarships through The Citadel Trust and The Citadel Foundation.
Endowed academic scholarships at The Citadel are possible due to the enormous contributions of alumni, parents and friends of the college. Guests on campus during the week represented more than 65 of the endowed scholarship funds.
This academic year the Office of Financial Aid has awarded more than $8 million in scholarships. That translates into 24 percent of cadets receiving non-public scholarship funds ranging from full-ride merit-based grants to financial awards that support dedicated cadets who need help to complete their Citadel education.
Because of donors, today’s cadets will emerge from their educational experience as leaders of tomorrow while proudly preserving The Citadel’s Long Gray Line.
