Navy ROTC hosting first sailing regatta to support training efforts
The Citadel Navy ROTC unit’s first Bulldog Regatta will be held April 14 at Short Stay Navy Outdoor Recreation Area in Moncks Corner.
Teams from colleges, high schools and military organizations in the Southeast will participate in the race using two-person Club 420s and one-person Laser rigs.
Money raised from the event will support the NROTC's sailing program, which trains midshipmen (cadets) and officer candidates (enlisted military) in basic sailing principles designed to prepare them for their commissions with on-the-water experience.
The regatta begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 14. Teams will consist of four people and one alternate. Individuals who want to compete but do not have a team can register for the individual competition. Registration costs $50 a team (four people and one alternate). Registration for the individual competition is for $12
