Lt. Gen. Rosa begins duties as president
Lt. Gen. John W. Rosa assumed his responsibilities as the 19th president of The Citadel today.
He will spend his first days getting acquainted with his office and staff. The spring semester begins Jan. 11 for the Corps of Cadets. Cadets and faculty begin returning to campus Jan. 8.
Rosa has already been hard at work meeting with administrators, settling into Quarters One with his wife, Donna, and acclimating to campus again. He earlier handled his first official duty by representing The Citadel at the VMI football game in Lexington, Va., on Nov. 19. At the end of that game, he accepted the Silver Shako, the trophy that goes to the winner of the Military Classic of the South.
A 1973 Citadel graduate, Rosa recently retired after 32 years in the U.S. Air Force. His last duty station was the U.S. Air Force Academy where he was superintendent.
