Community College Coalition hosts Sept. 12 Rock the Block party
The College Community Coalition will host the seventh annual Rock the Block, an alcohol-free party, Saturday, Sept. 12. The party, which is free to all college students, will take place on George Street at the College of Charleston in the block between Coming and St. Philip streets from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m.
The coalition, which is made up of Charleston Southern, the College of Charleston, The Citadel, and Trident Technical College, was founded to address the issue of underage drinking among college students and to promote alcohol and drug-free student activities. The coalition provides alcohol-free alternatives for Lowcountry college students.
The party will feature live music, food, sodas, a climbing wall, mechanical bull, prizes, and a chance to meet students from other colleges. Also contributing to the evening’s events are Aramark, Papa John’s Pizza, the College of Charleston Community Relations, Dept. of Student Life, and the Cougar Activities Board, Charleston Center, Domino’s Pizza and Palmetto Behavioral Health.
