Cadets complete in psychology quiz bowl competition
The Citadel was among 11 colleges and universities competing in the annual quiz bowl, one of the main attractions of the South Carolina Psychological Association’s Academic day on Nov. 9 hosted by Lander University in Greenwood, S.C.
The competition involved teams of students facing off in two rounds answering five questions in each of seven psychology categories. Students were allowed to confer on each question for two minutes before giving their responses. Points were awarded for correct answers and the team with the highest point total at the end of the competition was declared the winner.
The cadets who represented The Citadel were David Larkin, Christopher Kays, Rebecca Edwards, Zane Linder, Stephanie Stoll, Dugan Turnbow, Chris Garcia and Norman Childress.
“We are very proud of the cadets’ performance,” said Department of Psychology Head Lt. Col. Michael Politano. “The team was excited and well prepared to compete with respected peers from many fine institutions across the state.”
The other colleges represented in the competition were Anderson University, Coker College, College of Charleston, Converse College, Francis Marion University, Furman University, Newberry College, the University of South Carolina-Aiken, the University of South Carolina Beaufort, and Lander.
Academic Day is an annual conference that also includes prominent speakers from the field of psychology and breakout sessions for both students and faculty members.
