Message from the President
The mission of The Citadel is to educate and develop our cadets and students to become principled leaders in all walks of life by instilling our Core Values of Honor, Duty, and Respect in a disciplined and intellectually challenging environment.
The heart of The Citadel is our Corps of Cadets which has never been so robust with five full battalions, 21 companies and 2,300 cadets from almost every state in the Union and a dozen countries across the globe. Since 1842, the Long Gray Line has fought in every war since the Mexican American War and continues to fight for our freedoms and defend our nation today.
The Citadel Experience requires achievement across all four pillars: academic, military, physical, and moral/ethics. We take pride in setting a higher standard for our cadets and students from The Corps, Citadel Graduate College, and our Evening Undergraduate Studies.
Our values-based education continues to be in demand with nationally recognized faculty and staff and state-of-the-art facilities furthering our proud tradition of developing principled leaders for our nation and the world.
I invite you to join us for Friday Parades on our beautiful and historic campus. You will see firsthand outstanding young men and women who choose the road less traveled and put service before self every day from reveille to taps.
John W. Rosa, '73
Lieutenant General, USAF (Retired)
