Message from the President

June 18, 2015

Citadel Family,

As we reel from the shock of last night’s senseless tragedy at Emanuel AME Church, it is important that The Citadel family come together as we always do to support our community and each other.

I know that many members of The Citadel family have connections with Emanuel AME and the victims. Our own Gospel Choir has performed at Emanuel AME for years, and some of our faculty, staff, cadets/students and alumni attend services there.

If you have been affected by this tragedy and need assistance or know of a coworker who needs assistance, please know that The Citadel family is here for you.  You can contact Citadel Chaplain Rev. Dennis Willey at 834-5447. Our Employee Assistance Program is also available at 800-822-4847.   You can call Human Resources at 953-6922 and speak to MAJ Leah Schonfeld or a member of the HR staff, or email MAJ Schonfeld at This email address is being protected from spambots. The Citadel mourns this terrible loss and our hearts and prayers go out to the families and friends of the victims as well as our community. The Citadel stands with Emanuel AME Church and will support them in their time of need.

Sincerely,

John W. Rosa, Lt Gen, USAF (Ret)
President, The Citadel
