Message From The Dean of Engineering

These are exciting times as many new companies establish operations in the Lowcountry, while the entire nation works to recover from the most recent economic recession. These conditions are leading many professionals to seek new management and leadership skills and to consider new career paths. Leaders are challenged in many dimensions and areas of competence. Also, they must constantly develop new leadership and management skills in order to meet the ever changing work place conditions.

The Citadel School of Engineering continues to assist current and future Lowcountry professionals in attaining the skills which are desired in many industries and market sectors. Currently, we do this through our Master of Science in Project Management (MSPM) degree, which was chartered in January 2010. This new Masters of Science degree was a result of the rapid growth of our Technical Project Management Graduate Certificate program that started in 2005. Our 30 credit hour MSPM offers technical and non-technical options to accompany the core requirements in project management and leadership. These options include civil and environmental engineering, electrical and computer engineering, leadership, homeland security, and systems engineering management. We currently have other options under development, including information assurance, cyber security, and critical infrastructure management.

The Citadel is dedicated to providing the critical educational opportunities that will enable current and future project and program management professionals to positively influence their workplace. The economic landscape of the Lowcountry and our Nation will continue to depend heavily on the availability of intellectual capital and the leadership and management abilities of its workforce. The Citadel’s MSPM degree program is structured to provide the desired knowledge, skills and abilities required to lead this necessary change. I would like to emphasize that the faculty and staff of The Citadel School of Engineering are prepared to provide the same outstanding instruction at the graduate level that the Lowcountry has grown to expect from its other educational programs.

If you have suggestions as to how we can assist your company in the continuing education and professional development of your current and future leaders, or if you desire program information and assistance in developing your career objectives, please do not hesitate to contact me.
