Mikhail Agrest, Ph.D.

Dr. Mikhail M. Agrest returned to The Citadel in 2014 as an Adjunct Professor of Physics after a 20-year leave teaching at the College of Charleston.  Dr. Agrest brings international experience to The Citadel, having his degrees from the University of St. Petersburg, Russia and the Russian Academy of Science, where he had nearly 20 years of research experience in membrane science and technology.  Dr. Agrest enriched his teaching abilities in physics and mathematics in Russia and various American schools. Through publishing and participating in numerous meetings of the American Association of Physics Teachers, Dr. Agrest promotes his teaching philosopy: "Learn how to distinguish difference in the similar and how to find the similar in difference." and "If you KNOW HOW, you always have a job; if you know WHY, you are the boss." 

In 2017, the national DAR Society honored Dr. Agrest with its prestigious Americanism Award for Patriotism for years of outstanding educational instruction and his leadership and service to the community and country. Dr. Agrest enjoys swimming and playing volleyball with Cadets. He loves The Citadel Family.
