He is responsible for controlling and monitoring the campus energy usage, oversees our new Energy Performance Contract, acts as a liaison between the Citadel and South Carolina Gas & Electric Co. and other utilities companies and is the physical plant representative on Staff Council.
A certified energy manager, Cantrell was lauded for helping the college reduce its peak demand energy consumption, saving $10,000 a year. In addition he actively seeks energy initiatives that are easily implemented with little cost and labor to the campus and he coordinated three energy performance contract proposals, publishes a comprehensive energy newsletter distributed semi-annually throughout the campus.
“Paul is a dedicated and meticulous individual, who does an excellent job for the Citadel,” said Jim FitzGerald, director of The Citadel Physical Plant. “Paul has saved the college thousands of dollars through active utility management and cost avoidance. The college is fortunate to have such a talented individual.”
