Parking on campus is very limited; however, off campus parking areas within walking distance will be set up. A shuttle service will be provided to remote parking areas off campus on Saturday morning. Please do not park in the numbered/named spaces around the stadium, the Holliday Alumni Center, reserved campus lots, or in numbered cadet spaces. Vehicles in spaces reserved for the disabled are required to prominently display a disability access parking placard.

For specific information about parking, call campus Public Safety at (843) 953-5114.

WEEKEND ATTIRE: Casual dress is in order for all events except the Friday evening ring ceremony and hop, which are formal for participants. Ladies usually wear long or tea length dresses. Dark business suits or tuxedos are appropriate for gentlemen. Although the weather is usually warm during the day, please include a sweater, wrap or jacket for evening activities.

INCLEMENT WEATHER: In case of inclement weather, the parade will be cancelled. However, scheduled ceremonies or presentations may be moved to another location. Current schedules will be available at the Information Center in Buyer Auditorium and on The Citadel web site.

PRESENTATION OF RINGS: At 1 p.m. Friday, seniors will receive their class rings in a ceremony in McAlister Field House. Tickets are provided by The Citadel Alumni Association to each participant. Note this is a new location this year.

For additional information, contact the alumni office at (843) 953-7696.

ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTS OPEN HOUSE: Faculty representatives will be available to meet with the parents in their respective departments from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday.

PARENTS’ INFORMATION RECEPTION: From 1-4 p.m. Friday in the Mark Clark Hall Reception Room. A photographer will be there with company pictures. Also available for purchase will be football tickets and lunch tickets.

REPORT TO PARENTS BY THE PRESIDENT: The president, Lt. Gen. John W. Rosa, will address parents at 3:30 p.m. on Friday in the Buyer Auditorium, Mark Clark Hall.

RING CEREMONY: At 6 p.m. Friday seniors, their dates and families will participate in the traditional ring ceremony in McAlister Field House. Parents of seniors participating in the ceremony should check with their cadet for a specific time that their company will be going through the ring. All cadets, their families and guests are invited to attend. This is a formal evening for cadets and a wonderful opportunity for treasured family photos. A professional photographer will take a picture of every cadet as they come through the ring. Ring ceremony photos will be mailed to parents and should be available after Nov. 15. Carriage rides around campus will also be offered at no charge.

RING AND PARENTS’ WEEKEND HOP: The Department of Cadet Activities will host a hop (dance) featuring The East Coast Party Band from 8 to 11:30 p.m. Friday in Deas Hall.

The Bulldogs will compete against Furman University at 2 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Hagood Stadium.
MORNING COFFEE: We invite you on Saturday starting at 8 a.m. to stop in for coffee, juice and pastries in Buyer Auditorium on the second floor of Mark Clark Hall.

COMPANY PHOTOS: Photos will be on sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday in the Mark Clark Hall Reception Room and on Saturday morning in Buyer Auditorium in Mark Clark Hall.

OPEN BARRACKS: One of our most popular Parents’ Weekend events is the opportunity to visit the barracks from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Saturday. Cadet rooms will open for your “inspection” and The Citadel Pipe Band will perform at all of the barracks. There will be a Fourth Class Squad Drill Competition (Kelly Cup) on the quadrangle of Padgett-Thomas Barracks (Second Battalion). Other buildings and facilities will also be open.

CADET EVENTS: On Saturday, The Citadel Regimental Band will present a concert on Summerall Field and 4th Class Squad Drill Competition will be held in Padgett-Thomas Barracks. At 10 a.m. there will be a Fourth Class promotion ceremony in all barracks.

DRESS PARADE: There will be a parade honoring parents and grandparents at 11 a.m. Saturday.

LUNCH: A one-time sitting, family style lunch will be served at noon on Saturday in Coward Mess Hall. There will also be a box lunch in Deas Hall immediately following parade. Entrance to both will be by ticket only. Tickets will be available in advance. All parents will receive an order form by mail. You can complete that and send it back and tickets will be mailed to you before Parents' Weekend. Tickets also will be on sale Friday and Saturday in Mark Clark Hall.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children between ages 3 and 12. There is no charge for cadets, but all cadets must have a ticket for lunch. Cadets can pick up their tickets from Cadet Activities in the reception room office in Mark Clark Hall.

For information call Cadet Activities at 843-953-2755.

ATHLETIC EVENTS: The Bulldogs will compete against Furman University at 2 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Hagood Stadium, two blocks from the Hagood Avenue gate. Halftime activities will feature the 2008 Summerall Guards. This game traditionally draws a large crowd and we suggest that you order your tickets (either reserved or general admission) early from The Citadel Athletic Ticket Office (843) 953-7181.

The Citadel’s volleyball team will compete at 7 p.m. Saturday against Wofford College and at 3 p.m. Sunday against Furman in McAlister Field House.
