Parents Weekend 2012 to be filled with milestones
The Citadel will welcome parents to campus in October for the annual Parents' Weekend celebration.
Families, friends and alumni from across the country and around the globe are expected on campus for the biggest of the college's four major weekends celebrated each year. The others are Homecoming, Corps Days and Graduation Week.
Parents' Weekend is filled with pomp and circumstance and milestones worth celebrating - from the promotion of the freshmen to cadet privates and their induction to the South Carolina Corps of Cadets to the presentation of class rings to the seniors. And, of course, it's all about parents getting a chance to spend time with their cadets, visit the campus and learn more about how the college develops principled leaders.
In addition to the Saturday morning military dress parade in honor of all parents, all academic departments will host open houses on Friday and on Saturday parents and families will be able to go inside the barracks to visit cadet rooms, watch the Kelly Cup competition, hear the Regimental Band and Pipes perform and take part in many other activities, including that afternoon's football game.
Here is a list of Parents' Weekend activities. Schedule is subject to change. Changes due to weather will be announced on this page and on www.citadel.edu.
