El Cid Toastdawgs elect Fall 2013 officers
El Cid Toastdawgs elected the following members to lead the club for the Fall 2013 semester:
President - Peter Falciani '15
VP Education - Jeffery Jones '14
VP Membership - Salvador Fierro '14
VP Public Relations - Haley Osmer '16
Secretary - Joseph Bordiuk '15
Sgt-at-Arms - Taylor Hill '16
On April 3, the OCL hosted the 3rd Annual Henry Dale Smith Public Speaking Contest
Michael Lacey, electrical engineering major, finished first in a competition.
Cadet Jeffery Jones, junior criminal justice major, finished runner-up in the competition.
Finalists for 2013 Corps-Wide Speaking Competition Left to Right: January 2013 El Cid Toastdawgs elect Spring 2013 officers President - Douglas Davis '14 October 2012 A few members of El Cid Toastdawgs met up to take a yearbook photo in the Oral Communications Lab Toastmaster Edelman and Toastmaster Davis receive their Competent Leader Certificates September 2012 Payton McVey, business major, represented El Cid Toastdawgs as the Club's Evaluation Contest champion. He was clear, positive, and motivational in his constructive observation of the contest speakers' presentations. Toastmaster Livingston wins 1st place in Toastmasters Club level Humorous Speaking Contest and 1st place in the Area level. Toastdawg Livingston represented El Cid Toastdawgs as the Club's Humorous speaking champion. Livingston, a civil engineering major, expresses his love for big macs and fries, making the audience chuckle as he passionately tells the crowd that America simply doesn't have enough fastfood. (Left: Payton McVey, Right: William Livingston) El Cid Toastdawgs elect Fall 2012 officers President - James DeRosa '14 May 2012 Cadet Harry Edelman V from Pittsburgh, PA received the Henry Dale Smith Public Speaking Award for winning the Corps-Wide Speaking Contest. The presentation was made by Provost Sam Hines during the graduation awards convocation on May 3. By Peter Falciani Finalists for Corps-Wide Speaking Competition Left to Right: Ryan McCoy, Julie O'Meara, Peter Falciani, James DeRosa, Harry Edelman March 2012 Toastdawg Edelman represented El Cid Toastdawgs as the club's Table Topics champion. Edelman, a political science major, beat out four other contestants with the question, "What does time mean to you?" Cadet John Povelones wins 2nd place in Toastmasters area 12 Speaking Competition Toastdawg Povelones gave the performance of a lifetime cloaked in his green snuggie, leaving the audience cackling and coming in second behind a speaker who has already made it once to the national level of Toastmaster competitions. El Cid Toastdawgs elect Spring 2011 officers President - Caleb Knowlton Cadet Jason Green from Plano, Tex. received the Henry Dale Smith Public Speaking Award for winning the Corps-Wide Speaking Contest. The presentation was made by Provost Sam Hines during the graduation awards convocation on May 6. April 2011 Jason Green named "Best Speaker in the Corps" Cadet Jason Green finished first in a competition that attracted 25 cadets vying for the title of "Best Speaker in the Corps." The contest, which was sponsored by the Oral Communications Lab, took place on April 7. Green received his award certificate from OCL Director Patricia McArver and Henry Dale Smith, Class of 1947 and the benefactor of the Oral Communications Lab. Award-winning speech: Runner-Up winning speech: Franklin McGuire finished second in the Corps-wide Speaking Competition. He is a freshman from Lexington, SC and a member of Band Company. El Cid Toastdawgs elect Fall 2012 officers President - Cody Edelman Toastdawg Caleb Knowlton represented El Cid Toastdawgs for the second year as the club's Table Topics champion.
