MBA student Thomas A. Gorman Jr., has earned a Best Paper Submission award from The Gold Star Journal for his article, "Capitalism: If History Has Taught U.S. Anything..." Thomas is the third of only three graduate students to have ever been published in the journal.

The 17th edition of the Gold Star Journal has arrived. A student published journal, it was founded in July 1996 by Suzanne Mabrouk (Chemistry Department) and promotes academic excellence through the publication of cross-disciplinary, nonfiction papers. Read it online.

Cadet Franklin McGuire has been elected to term as a student member of the National Collegiate Honors Council’s board of directors. An English major in the Honors Program, McGuire won election from a competitive field of honors students from across the nation. Mick Fekula in the Krause Center for Leadership and Ethics was elected as executive director of the Association for Business Simulation and Experiential Learning (ABSEL) at its 41st annual conference in March. The Executive Directive is the only permanent ABSEL officer position and was established to ensure continuity and the long-term viability of the organization.

Mathematics and Computer Science Professor David Trautman, acclaimed by students taking Honors Mathematics for his easy-going style and love of mathematics, was awarded the Honors Program Award for Teaching Excellence at the annual certificate presentation luncheon for Honors students on May 3. 

Elizabeth Connor, associate professor in the Daniel Library, was elected to the Science & Technology Libraries Section of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions. Connor was nominated by Medical Library Association headquarters. Her term will run from 2013-2017.
