Citadel Women's Club to hold annual yard sale May 28

The Citadel Women's Club will hold its annual Stadium Sale for the public from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 28 at the Altman Center in the end zone at Johnson Hagood Stadium on Hagood Avenue at Fishburne Street.

Just as in year's past, the 2005 yard sale will feature bargains galore, including cadet uniform items, clothing, shoes, books, appliances, computer hardware, lamps, furniture, sports equipment, school supplies, linens, video tapes, CDs, luggage, tools, toys, board games and bicycles, etc.

Every year people line up early for the sale, but no early birds are allowed inside for the many bargains. Proceeds go to scholarships for Citadel cadets.

The presale, which is open to Citadel faculty and staff only, is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 27.

The Annual Stadium Sale was started 10 years ago when it was noticed that cadets throw away many useable items at the end of each academic year. Now the items also come from donations by faculty and staff and the community, said John Carter, one of the many Citadel volunteers who work year round to organize the annual event. The Citadel Women's Club takes the items, cleans them and sells them - the ultimate recycling!
