Military Colleges Conference kicks off Monday
The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, will host the Senior Military Colleges Conference beginning Monday, Oct 11.
Senior college administrators will converge on campus from Texas A&M, Norwich, VMI, Virginia Tech, North Georgia and Mary Baldwin for two days of discussions about current issues and concerns that are common among the military colleges. The administrators will also receive updates on the most recent information military accessions policies from the Office of The Secretary of Defense for Military Accessions, the Department of Defense Medical Evaluation Review Board, and the heads of each of the military service Reserve Officer Training Components.
Additionally, for the third consecutive year students from each of the military colleges have been asked to participate in the conference in a separate student forum.
On Monday, student reps will spend most of the day working in small groups exploring and exchanging ideas around four themes that are common to the military college environment: communicating with the boss, spirit, maintaining standards, and honor. On Tuesday morning the student reps will present the results of these discussions to the administrators in a final session. This is a unique leadership development opportunity for the students to exchange ideas and network with their counterparts and then provide input to the senior administrators.
