Fleet
managers association honors The Citadel The Citadel has been honored for most improved accident rate for a small state agency by the Governmental Fleet Managers Association.
Ron Doyle, chief of grounds and operational services, and Bill Brannock, vehicle dispatcher and defensive driving instructor, accepted the award during an October conference in Myrtle Beach. "We reduced our accident frequency rate more than any other state agency of comparable size," Doyle said. "A significant contributing factor was that our dispatcher Bill Brannock teaches the eight- and four-hour National Safety Council defensive driving course as well as the 15-passenger van driver safety course. The Citadel is the only state agency that teaches the three of these courses, other than State Fleet Management in Columbia. That results in a significant savings for employees and other Lowcountry state agencies in travel time and money. -end-
