Bergvall joins The Citadel FoundationDennis P. Bergvall, a fundraising veteran with 23 years of experience in higher education, has been named The Citadel Foundation’s associate executive director for development
Bergvall will oversee an expansion of fundraising efforts at The Citadel Foundation and will take the capital campaign into its public phase. The foundation has already raised more than $50 million for scholarships, academics, leadership training and the stadium since the quiet phase began in 2002.
He
comes to The Citadel Foundation from Alma, Mich., where he was vice president
for enrollment at Alma College. "Dennis will be able to hit the ground running," said Frank Shannon, executive director of The Citadel Foundation. "He understands all aspects of fundraising and will play a crucial role as we move forward with the campaign." Bergvall said he was attracted to The Citadel by its mission. "The Citadel’s values and mission resonate deeply with my own personal sense of what is right about our country. I wanted to be part of an institution that actively shapes leaders to manage the challenges of our society." When he was at Albertson College, Bergvall planned and executed a capital campaign that reached its initial goal of $50 million two years ahead of schedule. At Whitman College, he wrote a publication on deferred giving, conducted estate-planning seminars and developed a planned giving volunteer program. A Montana native, Bergvall is a graduate of Whitman College. -end- |
