Sunday, May 1
2
p.m. -- College of Graduate and Professional Studies commencement exercises,
McAlister Field House. All
guests are asked to be seated 15 minutes prior to the processional. Speaker: The Honorable Alex M. Sanders, Jr., president emeritus
of the College of Charleston and founder and chairman of the board of
the Charleston School of Law.
3:30 p.m. -- Reception
for CGPS graduates and guests hosted by Maj. Gen. and Mrs. John S.
Grinalds, Deas
Hall.

Corps of Cadets
Thursday, May 5
1:30 p.m. -- Star
of the West finals, Summerall Field (In inclement weather: Deas
Hal)
This
event is the culmination of many hours of practice in rifle drill. The
winner will be named the "Best Drilled Cadet" and will have
his or her name inscribed on the Star of the West Monument located
near the flagpole on Summerall Field. That cadet will also wear the Star
of the West Medal. The ship, Star of the West, was fired upon
by Citadel cadets in 1861.
3:45 p.m. Military
dress parade with awards presentation, Summerall Field. (In inclement
weather parade is cancelled; awards presented in Mark Clark Hall).
7:30 p.m. Baccalaureate
Service, Summerall Chapel
Speaker:
The Right Reverend William J. Skilton, ¹62, Bishop Suffragan of the
Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina. Bishop Skilton was born and raised
in Havana, Cuba. After graduating from The Citadel he entered the School
of Theology at the University of the South. He has served in the Dominican
Republic and in congregations throughout South Carolina. (No flash photography or artificial lighting inside the Chapel).
Friday, May 6
2:15
p.m. -- 2006 Summerall Guards perform in honor of the Class of 2005, Summerall
Field. (In inclement weather, cancelled).
3 p.m. -- Long Gray
Line graduation parade, Summerall Field. (In inclement weather, cancelled).
Members
of the Class of 2005 will march in their final parade as cadets. As the
class crosses Summerall Field to take the review, the leadership of the
Class of 2006 will take command of the Corps of Cadets.
4 p.m. -- Garden party
Given by Maj. Gen. and Mrs. John S. Grinalds for the Class of 2005 and
their guests, Quarters One. (In inclement weather, cancelled).
Saturday, May
7
9:30 a.m. -- South
Carolina Corps of Cadets commencement exercises, McAlister Field House.
A
professional photographer will take photos of each graduate during the
diploma presentation. Families are asked not to come forward to take family
snapshots or video.
