Demolition of Johnson Hagood Stadium under way

Demolition of The Citadel’s Johnson Hagood Stadium is currently under way with crews working on taking down the West Side of the 56-year-old facility.

The demolition of the West Side stands is the initial phase of the $15 million reconstruction project. The phase includes the removal of the West Side structure, bricks from the façade of the East Side and wooden bleachers from the East Side.  The project also includes pressure washing and painting of the East Side stands, as well installing aluminum bleachers taken from the West Side.

The anticipated completion for the demolition of the West Side is scheduled for the summer of 2004. Design of the new West Side is currently under way, with reconstruction scheduled for the fall of 2004.
