For
Release Three cadet companies receive four awards Delta Company, Palmetto Battery and Romeo Company were recently honored for outstanding performance by cadets in academic, military training and student retention.
Palmetto Battery walked away with two awards - the Milton A. Pearlstine Award and the Charles P. Summerall Cup. The
Summerall Cup is donated by the European Citadel Association and is awarded
annually to the cadet company with the best academic achievement. Companies
are rated on average grade point ratio for each semester and on whether
the GPR has increased or decreased between first Delta Company received the President's Cup, which was established by former Citadel President Hugh Harris in 1967. It is presented annually to the cadet company with the highest combined score in academic achievement, military performance, extracurricular participation, fourth-class retention, and with the fewest disciplinary cases during the previous academic year. The Murray D. Bonnoitt Award was presented to Romeo Copmany. It is given annually in honor of Murray D. Bonnoitt, Class of 1962 and past Citadel Alumni Association president. The award recognizes the cadet company with the highest freshman class retention rate for the previous school year,
