Citadel cadets leading the way to Relay for Life

Relay for Life, the American Cancer Society's premier event to raise money and awareness about cancer, will come to The Citadel and Johnson Hagood Stadium on April 23.

Citadel cadets have joined with College of Charleston students to help organize this year's event, which features a day of activities and entertainment.

Relay For Life is a 12-hour team event that begins at 6 p.m. Friday, April 23 and concludes at 7 a.m. Saturday, April 24. Teams of eight to 15 people take turns walking in the relay and work to raise at least $100 in pledges. During the event there will be games, food, entertainment, contests and music. Citadel cadets, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend. The event is open to the public.

Anyone interested in participating in this year's Relay For Life should register by March 17. For more information contact Chad Buckel at or Blake Fisher at
