Martin Luther King Day program planned

The Citadel's Gospel Choir will join the choirs from three other Lowcountry colleges to pay tribute to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

The program, sponsored by The Citadel Black History Month Consortium, will also feature the gospel choirs from the College of Charleston, Trident Technical College and Charleston Southern University. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. in Summerall Chapel on The Citadel campus. It is free and open to the public.

Each college or university will also present awards to individuals in recognition of their contributions to the local community that reflect the King's spirit. Roberta Tracy, director of Equal Employment Opportunity/Diversity at The Citadel, will deliver the keynote speech.
