Citadel Cadet Jonathan Martin Black today was awarded the Col. Loring K. Himelright Scholarship for his outstanding performance as a civil engineering student. Himelright, for whom the scholarship is named, is a former civil engineering department head. The scholarship fund was created following his retirement in 1981. The fund provides an annual scholarship for a senior in civil engineering. Faculty members choose each year's recipient of the $1,500 scholarship. Black received a plaque from Col. Dennis J. Fallon, dean of engineering, and a check during a homecoming weekend ceremony Saturday, Nov. 1. Black is president of The Citadel Chapter of American Society of Civil Engineers and, a member of Phi Kappa Phi and a member of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honor society. A
2000 graduate of Calvary Christian School, he
is the son of Mr. And Mrs. Martin Gregory Black of Hunters Trail in Myrtle
Beach.
