ARAMARK honors employees for service
ARAMARK
Dining Services, celebrating the 35th anniversary of its partnership with
The Citadel, honored employees with 25 years or more service on Friday,
Dec. 5.
ARAMARK,
initially known as ARA,
came to The Citadel in 1968 under the administration of Gen. Hugh P. Harris,
food service Director Elton Coleman and his staff of two managers. ARA
fed approximately 2,000 cadets, three meals a day out of one mess hall.
Today, under Maj. Gen. John S. Grinalds, Mike Doppke and his managerial
staff of 13 are feeding similar numbers, only now out of a larger mess
hall, snack bar/food court, complete catering operation and faculty/staff
dining facilities.
With
135 employees, it takes 42 waitresses and four cooks per shift to serve
the Corps of Cadets and athletes their daily meals. The Munnerlyn Food
Court is staffed by 21 people, and catering has 12 full-time employees.
Many
ARAMARK employees have served ARAMARK and The Citadel for 25 years or
more. Many of these long-term employees transferred as state employees
from The Citadel food service operations to ARAMARK once the partnership
began in 1968. Congratulations to these and all ARAMARK employees who
have been a part of this relationship.
