Release "Gods and Generals" writer/director coming to The Citadel Ron
Maxwell, the writer and director of the new Civil War film epic "Gods
and Generals" will preview footage from his new movie Friday, Feb.
14 at The Citadel. The limited screening is free and open to the public. Maxwell will discuss his film, which opens Feb. 21, and will answer questions from the audience beginning at 7 p.m. in Mark Clark Hall Auditorium on The Citadel campus. Maxwell also directed "Gettysburg," the prequel to "God and Generals." "We are thrilled that Ron Maxwell will visit The Citadel and will share about 30 minutes worth footage from his film with The Citadel community as well as the Lowcountry," said Kyle Sinisi, a Civil War researcher and Citadel associate professor of history. Dr. Emory M. Thomas made Maxwell's visit possible, Sinisi said. One of two Gen. Mark Clark History chairs at The Citadel, Thomas also was a technical advisor on "Gods and Generals." He is a preeminent Civil War scholar who specializes in the Confederacy and recently published his book "Robert E. Lee: A Biography." -end-
