Brent Stewart, director of The Citadel Career Center, has been elected president of the South Carolina Association of Colleges and Employers.
The South Carolina Association of Colleges and Employers is composed of corporate and collegiate professionals dedicated to developing effective corporate-collegiate relationships, with a focus on hiring practices and career-related education and decision-making. Members represent all major South Carolina colleges and universities and many of the state's major corporations.
Stewart, a Summerville resident and North Dakota native, joined The Citadel in 1990 as an adjunct instructor and became director of career services in 1993. He holds a master's in business from the University of Wisconsin, an undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota, and completed graduate work at the University of South Carolina.
Stewart has 17 years experience in teaching and administration at colleges, with additional experience in research and financial services. He is a frequent presenter at state, regional, and national conferences on such topics as communication skills, selling and negotiating skills, and best practices in college recruiting. He recently co-authored an article published in the Business Communication Quarterly.
Stewart also is a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers and the Southeastern Association of Colleges and Employers.
