Release Accounting educators meet in Charleston More than 200 accounting educators will be in Charleston this week for the Southeast Region meeting of the American Accounting Association. The conference, which follows the theme Accounting at a Crossroads, will be held at the Lightsey Center and Francis Marion Hotel on March 27-29. The event is co-sponsored by The Citadel, The College of Charleston and Francis Marion University. Keynote speakers will include Doug Alkema with the Office of the Chief Accountant, Securities and Exchange Commission; Dennis Beresford, former chairperson of the Financial Accounting Standards Board; Katherine Schipper, Financial Accounting Standards Board; Lynford Graham, Auditing Standards Board; and Phil Ameen, vice president and comptroller of General Electric. The program will also
feature a session with former Arthur Anderson partners discussing audit
quality control and partner compensation. Accounting professionals, educators and other interested in accounting may register at the conference on Friday. More information is available on the association's website. -end-
