Charleston painter, archivist to visit The Citadel
Charleston's history, culture and heritage continue to be the focus of activities sponsored this month by the The Citadel's Daniel Library Friends.
Gene Waddell, an archivist at the College of Charleston, will present a slide show featuring Charleston architecture at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 9 in Duckett Hall Auditorium.
The presentation will give visitors a chance to see how builders who knew Italy of the Renaissance, Rome of the Empire and Classical Greece designed Charleston's exquisite architectural monuments. Waddell is one of the premier authorities on Charleston's architectural heritage.
On Tuesday, April 23, artist West Fraser will show slides of his paintings of Charleston and tell how he goes about his craft. He will sign copies of his book "Charleston in My Time" afterward. Fraser will begin speaking at 6:30 p.m. in the Prioleau Room inside the Daniel Library on The Citadel campus.
Both events are free and open to the public.
