PT Groundbreaking set for April 26

Senator Ernest F. Hollings and Senator Daniel K. Inouye will be the featured guests at a groundbreaking ceremony for Padgett Thomas Barracks on Friday, April 26 at 2 p.m. The ceremony will mark the kickoff for construction of the barracks that is the architectural centerpiece of the campus.

College officials expect construction to begin around June 1.

Following the groundbreaking ceremony, Senator Inouye will lay a wreath at the gravesite of General Mark Clark, former president of The Citadel and commander of the Fifth Army where Senator Inouye served during World War II.

Members of the public are welcome to come to the groundbreaking ceremony, the wreath-laying and the parade by the South Carolina Corps of Cadets in honor of Senator Inouye and those Citadel employees who are retiring. The parade begins at 3:45 p.m.
