Kingstree
attorney elected chairman of Citadel Board of Visitors
Governor
honors outgoing chairman with Order of the Palmetto
Charleston,
S.C. -- William E. Jenkinson III, a 1968 graduate of The Citadel,
was elected the next chairman of the college's governing board during
its meeting on Saturday. Jenkinson
will succeed Leonard C. Fulghum Jr. who served as chairman for the
past two years and will retire on June 30.

Jenkinson
is an attorney with Jenkinson, Jarrett & Kellahan in Kingstree and
graduate of the University of South Carolina Law School. He has been
a Citadel board member since 1992 and served as vice chairman from
1997 to 2001.
Fulghum,
a 1951 Citadel graduate, received the Order of the Palmetto, South
Carolina's highest honor, on Friday night. The award presented by
Senator Billy O'Dell recognized Fulghum's public service and leadership
on the board where he has served since 1977.
In April,
the General Assembly appointed two Columbia residents to six-year
terms on The Citadel's governing board.
Glenn
Addison, a financial advisor with UBS/Paine Webber Inc., will take
Fulghum's seat. Addison is a 1979 graduate who served for six years
in the Air Force and has served in the South Carolina Air National
Guard since 1985.
Columbia
accountant Douglas A. Snyder was appointed to a second term. A 1982
Citadel graduate, Snyder has served as vice chairman for the past
year.
