Top national defense experts to visit The Citadel

The Citadel will host some of the nation's top defense experts on Friday, January 18.

"Today's Military" is the focus of a panel discussion arranged by Philip Lader, former U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the John C. West Professor of Government and International Relations at The Citadel.

The panel discussion, which is being hosted by college's political science department, begins at 11:00 a.m. in Bond Hall, Room 165. The panel will include:

  • David Chu, currently under secretary of defense for personnel and readiness (formerly serving as an Assistant Secretary of Defense)
  • The Honorable John Dalton, former secretary of the Navy (1993-1998)
  • Retired Army Brig. Gen. Evelyn "Pat" Foote, former commanding general at Fort Belvoir, Va.

Lader will moderate the discussion.

The panel discussion is free and open to the public. Seating, however, is limited.
