The Citadel Celebrating 159
Years
The
Citadel will celebrate the 159th anniversary of the South Carolina
Corps of Cadets during its Corps Day Weekend March 15-17.
One
of the most highly attended Citadel attractions, Corps Day will feature
a cadet talent show, dress parades, the presentation of the Palmetto Medal
Awards, and numerous athletic events.
The
Citadel Corps Day tradition began with the colleges inception in 1843
when the first 20 cadets reported for class at the old Citadel on Marion
Square in downtown Charleston.
Highlights
of Corps Day include the following events:

Thursday, March 14 |
| 6:15 p.m. |
Corps birthday celebration.
Coward Mess Hall. Oldest alumni and youngest cadet cut the birthday
cake. (Not open to the public). |

The Cadet Talent Show, McAlister
Field House (Admission $3 for non-cadets $3) |

| 11 a.m. |
First Citadel Undergraduate
Research Conference poster display, Prioleau Room of Daniel Library.
