The Citadel promises flexibility for cadets called to active duty
Officials at The Citadel announced today that they will give the greatest possible flexibility to cadets whose education is interrupted by a call to active military duty.
The policy allows cadets required by law to report for active duty to withdraw from their courses and receive a full tuition refund and a pro-rated refund of auxiliary fees. Cadets also have the option of taking an incomplete in their courses and resuming their academic work for credit when they return.
"We do not want a military call-up to have an adverse impact on a student's academic record or to cost the student financially," said Spike Metts, dean of planning and assessment. "The spirit of this policy is to allow students to complete courses they have already begun if that is feasible, or receive a refund if they decide to withdraw."
The specific policy is available on the public affairs portion of the web site.
