The Citadel leads S.C. public colleges in four-year graduation rates

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Cadets who attend The Citadel are focused and on-track. The Citadel has the top four-year and five-year graduation rates of any public college or university in South Carolina according to the S.C. Commission on Higher Education.

In fact, The Citadels four-year graduation rate of 59.6 percent is twice the states average of 28.7 percent. Those percentages are from the Statistical Abstract 2000 --the most recent data available. Of the 517 cadets who entered in the fall of 1993, 308 graduated within four years, 355 (68.7%) graduated within five years and 364 (70.4%) graduated within six years. The next closest college was Clemson University, which graduated 39% of its initial freshman class of 2,300 in four years. The following chart shows The Citadels graduation rate compared to that of other South Carolina public colleges and universities.
