Citadel Announces New Department Head

Lt. Col. Jeff E. Goodwin

          The Citadel Department of Health and Physical Education has a new department head. Lt. Col. Jeff E. Goodwin comes to the military college from Eastern Michigan University where he served as an associate professor as well as interim department head.

          A 1989 graduate of Midwestern State University, Lt. Col. Goodwin also received his masters degree from Midwestern State. In 1994 he earned a Ph.D. from Texas Womans University in physical education; his specialization is motor learning. He is a prolific writer and has been published in a number of journals on topics pertaining to physical education. Lt. Col. Goodwin was awarded Midwestern State Universitys Outstanding Alumnus from the West College of Education in July, and he is currently a member of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.

          Goodwin replaces Col. Gary L. Wilson who served as the department head for the last six years. Col. Wilson is presently on sabbatical and will return to teaching in the 2001 spring semester.
