Cadets host engineering fair
Cadet John Heatherly evaluates student's bridge design at Summerville Catholic School.

          In celebration of National Engineers Week, The Citadel will hold its annual fair for Lowcountry middle and high school students Saturday, February 24, 2001in Grimsley Hall Auditorium beginning at 8:15 a.m. The public is invited to attend.

Schedule of events

Model Bridge Competition: Model bridges, built and designed by Lowcountry middle and high school students, using only craft sticks and carpenters wood glue, will be tested for strength to weight ratio. Bridges will be loaded at mid-span until they collapse. The maximum load divided by the bridge weight will determine students scores.

          Registration, 8:15 to 9:00 a.m.
          Judging 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.
          Bridge Testing, 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.
          Compilation of Results, 11:30 a.m to noon
          Awards Ceremony, 12:00 p.m.

Mad Science Program: an interactive science program for kids, 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.

Cadet Inventions: cadets will demonstrate their senior design projects.
