Citadel announces Employee of the Year
Kristi Cowart was honored April 27 at the Corps of Cadets Friday afternoon dress parade as the 2001 Citadel
Employee of the Year. Maj. Gen. John S. Grinalds, president of The Citadel, presented her with a plaque for her service to the military college.
To be considered for the honor, employees must be nominated in writing by a faculty or staff member. This year there were 13 outstanding nominations that were reviewed and rated by the employee recognition committee. The other nominees were Roberta Blanchard, Mary Cave, Jim Fitzgerald, James Grigg, Renee Harrison, Mollie Ann Jenkins, Lynn Meador, Marion Mitchum, Ed Pope, Robert Shipman, Libby Walker, and Debbie Webster.
Cowart, who has been employed at The Citadel for seven years, is the disbursements manager for financial services. Among her accomplishments, she helped to establish the purchasing card program, she guided the implementation of Y2K software changes, and she serve as the contract administrator for the implementation the Kronos system, a timekeeping system that interfaces with the payroll system.
In addition to a certificate and a plaque, Cowart received a $1500 cash award; hotel accommodations for two in Asheville, N.C., including two tickets to Biltmore House and Gardens; season basketball tickets for two; a designated parking space on campus for one year; and gift certificates from The Citadel book store, tailor shop, laundry, and gift shop totaling $150.
Cowart lives in Mt. Pleasant with her husband Tobin Cowart and their two daughters, Sydney, 5, and Spencer, 2.
