Elksnin heads international LD advocacy group

Linda K. Elksnin, a professor in the education at The Citadel, is the president of the International Council for Learning Disabilities, an organization that promotes effective teaching and understanding of individuals with learning disabilities.

A member of The Citadel's faculty since 1984, Dr. Elksnin tDownloadable photoeaches disability-related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. She and her spouse, Dr. Nick Elksnin, have coauthored two books on assessment and instruction of social skills. A third book on teaching social-emotional skills in school and at home is scheduled for publication.

Dr. Elksnin's studies on social skills, teaching techniques and career education for students with learning disabilities are widely published in academic journals.

A graduate of Syracuse University, Dr. Elksnin earned her M.Ed. and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia.

The International Council for Learning Disabilities encourages research and the exchange of information to enhance the education and development of individuals with learning disabilities.
