FOR RELEASE 2001 Tribute to Women in Industry (TWIN)
The Tribute to Women in Industry Program, founded in 1975 by the YWCA of Ridgewood, N.J., is conducted by YWCAs throughout the United States. The Charleston YWCA presented its first TWIN Program in 1980 with 30 honorees and sponsors participating. More 100 organizations have selected and sponsored more than 600 outstanding women as TWIN honorees during the past 22 years. The Citadel started participating in 1988 and has had nine previous honorees. Blanchard is responsible for all insurance and retirement workers compensation. She conducts new employee orientation seminars and workshops for more than 500 faculty and staff members at the military college. Blanchard has a degree in business from Coker College. She has been a board member of Tri-County Human Resources Association for four years and treasurer for two years; she is a member of the Credit Union Managers, treasurer and Sunday School teacher for Sullivans Island Baptist Church, mother advisor for the Eastern Star, and a participant in the Cadet Sponsor Program. In June, Blanchard will retire from The Citadel. She and her husband Dick have two children, René Severns of Mt. Pleasant and Rick Blanchard of Summerville, and five grandchildren. -end-

The Citadel and was honored at a banquet on April 24. Blanchard, who
has been employed in the colleges human resources department since
1984, was recognized for her outstanding service as benefits coordinator
in 1995 when she was named Employee of the Year.
