On Friday, March 12, The Citadel physics department will host its 8th Annual Rocket Day. Approximately 125 fifth graders from Sullivan's Island and Belle Hall elementary schools will attend.
At 10:00 a.m in Grimsley Hall Auditorium, Colonel Joel Berlinghieri will explain the principles which govern rocket flight, illustrating Newton's laws of inertia, force, action, and reaction with air tracks, vacuum cleaners, balloons, and CO2 cartridges followed by a film about rocket propulsion and satellite motion.
assisted by physics cadets will launch their model rockets from
9:00-10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon on Summerall Field.
